JULY 4th, 2012 — If you live in Santa Clarita, you know there are so many fun things to do here around the summer holidays.
Fourth of July brings a parade, a 5K, barbeques, swimming, paddle boarding and kayaking at Castaic lake and fireworks galore around our entire city.
You can log on to our city guide for more information on the 4th of July festivities in Santa Clarita and the fireworks around town.
Illegal fireworks are definitely an item of discussion here in Santa Clarita valley, with the history of fires in the area.
Officer Ibrahim of the Santa Clarita Fire Station, explained the negative results that can happen if someone is hurt or even killed in a fire caused by the use of illegal fireworks.
State law says that people can be fined at least $500 and/or be placed in jail for one year upon conviction for violating any fireworks laws. Parents can be made liable for any damages or injuries their children have caused by using illegal fireworks.
Under the California Health & Safety Code section 12677, it is “unlawful for any person to possess dangerous fireworks without holding a valid permit.” Those whom are specifically permitted to do so can keep or sell certain types of fireworks.
It’s important to realize that some of these firework violations can be charged as a felony. Firework violators may be held responsible for any damages. They may also pay stiff fines and/or be placed in jail.
If someone you know has been charged with this felony charge, you can always call SCV Bail Bonds for a no-cost consultation. We’re available throughout the holiday 24/7 to assist the community and our new branch office is located in the heart of Santa Clarita at 23734 Valencia Blvd., Suite 300.
So be careful, stay safe and have a wonderful, glittery Fourth of July!
