Santa Barbara Inmate Information
Those who are arrested in Santa Maria will usually find their way to the Santa Maria jail, which is accountable for 32% of the bookings in the county. The Santa Maria jail is a type 2 facility, which means that inmates are only going to be held there for up to 96-hours. Those who are not released or bailed out during that time period will be transferred to the Santa Barbara County Jail.
When being transferred, inmates will be ineligible for bail until they arrive at, and are processed in to, the Santa Barbara County Jail. This can be a period of anywhere between 12 and 24-hours, depending on how busy things are. If the bail bond process is started while the inmate is still located at the Santa Maria Jail, though, it is possible to avoid the transfer process altogether.
The Bail Bond Process
Acquiring a bail bond isn’t all that hard, nor does it take very long. It begins by giving us a call and providing the name, birth date and date and time of arrest of the inmate you want to bail out. We will use this information to locate him or her within the system and verify their eligibility for bail. Once that’s been established, we will have you fill out the short, simple bail bond application forms and sign the indemnitor’s agreement. Finally, we dispatch an agent to the jail to post the bond and your friend or loved one will be released shortly thereafter.
If you’re out of the area, or are otherwise unable to meet with us in person, we can easily handle the bail bond application process via phone, fax or email.
What is an Indemnitor?
The indemnitor is the person who signs the bail bond. When someone is bailed out of jail, they still have to attend their court dates. Once they have done so, the bail bond is exonerated and there is no further obligation on anyone’s part. However, when they do not show up for court, it is the person who signs the bail bond (indemnitor) that will be responsible for paying the full amount of bail to the court; and the amount can be considerable. That being said, you should only bail out those whom you know and trust.
The Cost of a Bail Bond
In California, the cost of a bail bond is set at 10% of the total bail amount. So, if the total amount of bail is $15,000, then the cost of a bail bond will be $1,500. We accept a variety of payment options which include: major credit/debit cards (Visa, Master Card, American Express and Discover) as well as cash, business or personal checks, money orders, bank account transfer and money wire.
Financing Available
If you would like to finance your bail bond, we have a variety of payment options that are designed to fit most any budget. No matter how you choose to pay, we never include any additional charges, fees or interest.
