North Hollywood is a district in the San Fernando Valley that was first established by the Lankershim Ranch Land and Water Company in 1887. It officially became North Hollywood in 1927. It is also currently referred to as NoHo and has the NoHo Arts District with theaters, art galleries and many fine restaurants.
If you know someone who has just been arrested in any of these areas, they will more than likely be booked into the L.A.P.D North Hollywood Station.
The Booking Process
The booking process will generally consist of conducting a “Live Scan” and a nation-wide background check for any parole holds, warrants, etc. Fingerprints and photographs will also be taken at this time. The entire process can usually take from 2 to 4 hours to complete. Once the process is complete, we can post the bond 24 hours a day.
What happens to them if they are arrested on a Thursday or Friday? They will likely remain in custody until Monday or Tuesday. That’s quite a long time for anyone to have to wait, which is why we recommend bailing them out as quickly as possible.
We can can assist in completing the necessary paperwork to post a bail bond while the arrestee is still in custody at the North Hollywood Jail – a process that takes just minutes, not days.
What are Bail Bonds?
Bail bonds are also called “Surety bonds.” Basically, they are the signed contract between a bail bondsman and indemnitor (the co-signer) which guarantees to the court that the defendant will make all of their court dates.
The cost for a bail bond is generally 10% of the bail set. If it is $20,000, the cost for the bond will be $2,000. The bail bond fee is non-refundable.
What if the Defendant Misses Court?
Failures to appear are generally rare. But they do happen when the arrestee is intentionally trying to evade the court. In this case, the bondsman and the indemnitor will have six months to get them back into court.
If you should bail out someone out of jail and they don’t show up for court for any reason, we can usually easily rectify the situation.
We understand that cars break down and other things happen. Fortunately, these simple issues can usually be taken care of with one simple phone call to our company. We can arrange for the defendant to get back to court without a warrant being issued for their missed arraignment.
We’re always here to help you and answer any question you have about the bail process.
