LASD Inmate Information
When someone is arrested in Hidden Hills, they are taken to the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff Station to undergo booking and processing. This is the procedure in which an arrestee will have their fingerprints recorded, photograph taken and a national background check is conducted. Once complete, bail will be set for those who are eligible and it will be possible to obtain their release via bail bond.
The Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff Station jail is not intended for the long-term holding of inmates. Those who remain at the station for more than 72-hours will be transferred to one of the larger downtown Los Angeles jails. Men go to Twin Towers and women are sent to the Lynwood Jail. When transferred, it is highly likely that an inmate will spend at least another 24-hours in custody as they go through another round of processing a the new facility. During this period, they will be ineligible for bail. If the bail bond process has begun while they are still located at the Malibu/Los Hills Station, it’s likely that the transfer process can be avoided altogether.
The Bail Bond Process
Bailing someone out of jail is easy, and it doesn’t have to take all that long. It begins by giving us a call and providing the name, birth date and date and time of arrest of the person you want to bail out of jail. If not all of that information is available to you, that’s okay, we can still help you out. We only need the info to locate the individual within the jail system and verify their eligibility for bail. Once that’s been done, we have you fill out the short, simple bail bond application forms and sign the indemnitor’s agreement. Finally, we send someone to the jail to post the bond and your friend or loved one will be released a short time later.
The process is so easy, we don’t even have to meet in order to do it. If you’re out of the area, or simply can’t meet with us in person, we can handle the entire bail bond application process via phone, fax or email.
What is an Indemnitor?
The indemnitor is the person who signs the bail bond. Once someone is bailed out of jail, they will still need to show up for their court date(s). Once it’s done, no matter the outcome, the bond will be exonerated and there will be no further obligation on the part of the indemnitor. However, if the individual does not show up for court, then the person that signed the bail bond will be held financially responsible for paying the full amount of bail (which can be considerable). That being said, only bail out those whom you know and trust.
The Cost of a Bail Bond
In California, the cost of a bail bond is set at 10% of the total bail amount. So, if the total amount of bail is $15,000, then the cost of a bail bond will be $1,500.
