The Montebello Police Department is staffed by 84 sworn officers, 17 reserve officers and 45 civilian personnel. Individuals who have been arrested by the Montebello police will be taken to the station where they will undergo booking and processing. Once the process has been completed, bail will bet set for those who are eligible and it will be possible for an inmate to be released via bail bond.
Like most on-site jails in community police stations, the Montebello jail is a type-1 facility that is designed to house a relatively small number of inmates for a period not exceeding 72-hours. If an inmate has not been bailed out within that time, or the jail is becoming overcrowded, he or she is likely going to be transferred to one of the larger holding facilities in downtown Los Angeles. Men will usually end up at Twin Towers, while women are taken to CRDF, otherwise known as the Lynwood Jail.
Being transferred will likely add an additional 24 hours or so to their time in custody as they go through processing at the new facility. These jails are large, and extremely busy. Transfer can often be avoided, though, if the bail bond application process is started quickly enough.
Booking and Processing
Booking and processing is a procedure you’re likely familiar with, thanks to movies and television. It’s the process in which an arrestee has their photograph taken, fingerprints recorded and a national background check is conducted. Once this process has been completed, bail will be set for those who are eligible. The process itself can take anywhere from 45 minutes to several hours; it all depends on how busy the jail is at the time the inmate arrives at the police station.
Bail by Fax or Email
The bail bond process is pretty simple. It begins by giving us a call and providing us a little general information on the inmate so we can locate him or her within the system and verify their eligibility for bail. After that, we will need you to fill out the bail bond application forms and indemnitor’s agreement. Once those are complete, we will dispatch one of our agents to the jail and your friend or loved one will be released shortly thereafter.
When you work with us, you are not required to meet with us to go through the application process. We can quickly and easily fax or email you all of the required forms and are more than happy to go over them with you, should you require it.
Payment Options
Bail bonds are by-and-large the most common method for getting someone out of jail, and when you work with us, they’re also the easiest. In California, the cost of a bail bond is set at 10% of the total bail amount. So, if the total amount of bail is $15,000, then the cost of a bail bond will be $1,500.
We accept several payment options, including cash, check, major cred/debit cards (American Express, Visa, Master Card and Discover) as well as money order, bank account transfer and money wire. If you’d like to finance your bail bond, let us know. We provide a variety of flexible payment plans with our client’s ease and comfort in mind.
Know that we include no additional charges, fees, or interest when you work with us.
