The Fillmore Sheriff Station has contracted with the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department to provide law enforcement for their residents. The Fillmore Station serves 500 square miles of unincorporated areas within the Santa Clarita Valley, including the communities of Piru and Barsdale.
Because there is not a jail located at this smaller station, when someone is arrested in this area, they will likely be transported to the main Ventura County Jail for booking and processing into the system. This usually includes taking the defendant’s photographs, fingerprints, conducting and nation-wide background check and securing their personal items.
This process can take from 2 to 4 hours or more to complete. Once finished, we can post a bond there 24 hours a day. If the defendant is not bailed out, they will likely remain in custody until their arraignment.
Starting The Bail Process
When you call, we’ll start the bail process by asking a few simple questions for informational purposes. We do this in order to find out more about the defendant’s situation and ascertain the risk involved (if any) in posting the bond.
It’s important to understand your responsibilities when signing on behalf of a defendant for a bail bond. We’ll take our time to explain this process in detail.

Bail Amounts and Financing a Bail Bond
In California, the cost of a bail bond is set at 10% of the total bail amount. So, if the total amount of bail is $15,000, then the cost of a bail bond will be $1,500.. If you go through a licensed SCV Bail Bondsman, you will only have to pay what’s known as a ‘premium’ of $1,000 to secure the defendant’s freedom. This is a non-refundable fee.
If the bail amount is high and the charge is serious, collateral may be required, but usually this is not the case. We may also be required to check your credit, but if it isn’t perfect, don’t worry. Everyone’s situation is different and other factors may work in your favor; (solid employment history, home ownership, long term residence, etc). We will let you know what works best in your individual circumstance.
The good news is, we have flexible bail bond payment plans and can tailor them to fit your families budget requirements. It only takes a few minutes with us over the phone to determine whether or not you are a candidate for this type of financing.
We have found that a credit card is both the easiest and fastest way of paying for a bail bond (we always accept VISA, Master Card, American Express or Discover), but you are also welcome to pay by cash or personal and business checks (o.a.c.). All queries are confidential and free of charge.
