It isn’t uncommon to hear about NFL players committing crimes, after all, they play on the biggest stage in the country and people are generally interested. When college players commit crimes, though, it can sometimes fly under the radar. Once such instance recently occurred this month when we saw two former college football stars charged with felonies.
Bryce Dixon, who previously played for USC and Trey Lealaimatafao, who previously played for LSU were arrested and charged with five counts of second-degree robbery, one count of car jacking, one count of attempted car jacking and one count of assault with a deadly weapon. According to reports, the two 19-year-old former college football players would “stop people, threaten them, and steal their belongings.”
Both men were not active on their respective teams at the time of their arrests. As a matter of fact, Dixon was kicked off of USC’s football team after being accused of “non-consensual sex” while Lealaimatafao was removed from the team after an unspecified arrest that happened last year.
Apart from the crime’s the two are being accused of in Los Angeles County, Ventura County investigators are apparently looking into the pair regarding a separate string of crimes. Currently, both Dixon and Lealaimatafao remain in police custody, with Dixon’s bail set at $425,000 and Lealaimatafao’s set at $100,000.
If convicted in Los Angeles, both men face sentences in excess of 15-years in prison. They have pleaded not guilty to the charges.
