Finding out a friend or loved one has been arrested can be a very stressful experience, and one of the most frequently asked questions we get is “how long does bail take?”

While we strive to ensure a fast, efficient bail bond service, there are many factors that can influence the amount of time it takes to get someone out of jail. Where the defendant was arrested, what their charges are, which jail they are in now, and the circumstances surrounding their case can introduce complications.

Generally, if you start the bail bond process as soon as the arrestee is taken into custody and nothing complicates things, bail can be posted as soon as the defendant has been processed in at the jail. Thus, they’ll only spend a few hours in custody. However, if they are located at one of the big, busy jails in downtown Los Angeles that often has a backlog of inmates awaiting release, your friend or loved one may spend 24 hours or more in custody – depending on when you call the bail bondsman and how quickly they can post bail.

Here are a few things you can do to expedite the bail bond process and get your friend or loved one out of jail as quick as possible:

  • Don’t wait to call the bail bondsman! Give us a ring as soon as you find out someone has been arrested and taken into custody. We can answer your questions, help guide you through everything, and get the process started right away. You are under no obligation to use our service when you call.
  • Get info together. Specifically the defendant’s name, their birth date, where and when they were arrested, and the jail they’re located at. If not all of this info is immediately available to you, call anyway and we can still use the info you have to help you locate your friend or loved one.

Following these two steps can greatly reduce the amount of time it takes to bail someone out of jail. If you are missing any info or if it is unavailable, we can still help you out, so do not hesitate to call.
