Since the Devonshire jail is relatively small, anyone who isn’t bailed out of it within twenty-four hours may be transferred to the larger Van Nuys Jail, Twin Towers or the Lynwood Jail if they are women.

At the Devonshire Police Station, arrestees are booked into the system before they are held in custody at the station’s small, on-site jail. The booking desk is open for business 24/7 and it handles everything associated with prisoner intake – from data entry to property storage, to release on bail.
This facility is also considered to be a temporary holding jail. Once it gets too crowded, or after an arraignment, inmates are usually transferred. However, defendants are still sometimes held at the Devonshire station jail until their first court date.
Indemnitor Responsibilities
If you decide to post bail with help from SCV Bail Bonds (or any other bond company), you’ll be asked to sign an application and a contract which makes you legally accountable for the defendant.
This means it will be up to you to make sure the defendant always meets all of their assigned court dates — because you could be held liable if he/she misses any.
If they do “skip,” (which is relatively rare), the judge will immediately issue a bench warrant for their arrest and the bond will go into forfeiture. Then, the co-signer may be expected to help locate the defendant or pay the full face amount of the bail bond if the defendant cannot be found within 180 days.
In most cases, this kind of issue can be resolved with a simple phone call to our company. However, we do recommend you ask yourself whether or not you feel you can fully trust the defendant to complete all court obligations before moving forward with signing a bail bond contract.
