Community involvement is important to everyone, and that’s why we at SCV Bail Bonds decided to sponsor the Bad News Bears of the Palmdale Little League. Children’s sports organizations, whether local or national, provide a fun and engaging environment where kids can interact with their peers, learn to work as a team, foster leadership qualities and learn the valuable lessons regarding graciously winning and losing.
Little League is open to children ages 4 to 16-years, both boys and girls.
Children who participate in sports have been shown to develop greater confidence and self-esteem, possess greater expectations, achieve higher grades, forge stronger relationships with their peers and enjoy greater family attachment and more frequent interactions with their parents.
The final game of the season for the Bad News Bears will take place at Domenic Massari Park on May 21st at 8:00 am.
Little League Baseball began back in 1938 when Carl Stotz had the idea of organizing a pre-teen baseball league for boys in his hometown of Williamsport, Pennsylvania. During that year, no teams had been formed and no official games were played. Instead, Stotz experimented with different types of equipment and field dimensions to figure out what would work best for the young people.
By 1939, there were 3 official teams in the Williamsport area and an official board of directors made up of Stotz and some of his close friends and family. That same year, Stotz spoke to his community about his idea for a children’s baseball league and settled on calling it Little League. Stotz wanted to provide something wholesome that local youth could take part of that would foster the ideals of sportsmanship, teamwork and fair play.
When the first 3 teams were formed, sponsorship began immediately. Lycoming Dairy, Lundy Lumber and Jumbo Pretzel all paid the $30 sponsorship fee that would provide the newly-founded Little League with the necessary equipment to play their games.
Over the next 60-years, Little League would grow from 3 teams to over 200,000 teams in all 50 States as well as 80 countries.
