Santa Babrara County Inmate Info
The City of Solvang contracts with the Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Department to meet it’s law enforcement needs. When someone is arrested in Solvang, they’re taken to the Solvang substation to undergo booking and processing. The substation is small, and inmates who are not bailed out quickly are transferred to the Santa Barbara County Main Jail.
When someone is transferred, they will be ineligible for bail until the transfer process is complete. This can take anywhere from 12 to 24-hours, as the inmate will need to go through another round of processing at the new facility. Transfer can often be avoided altogether when the bail bond process has begun shortly after their arrest.
The Bail Bond Process
Bailing someone out of jail begins by giving us a call and providing us with their name, birth date and the date and time of their arrest. If you’re not sure about all of this information, don’t worry! We can still help you out. Once we locate them within the jail system and verify their eligibility for bail, we will have you fill out the short, simple bail bond application forms and sign the indemnitor’s agreement. Finally, we send an agent to the jail to post the bond and your friend or loved one will be released a little while later.
The entire process doesn’t take all that long, nor does it require a great deal of paperwork. As a matter of fact, we can do the whole thing without even meeting via phone, fax or email.
What is an Indemnitor?
When bailing someone out, the indemnitor is the person who signs the bail bond. When they do so, they agree to shoulder the responsibility of ensuring that the defendant returns to court at the appointed date and time. If they do, then the bond will be exonerated and the indemnitor will have no further obligations. However, if the defendant does not show up for court, it is the person who signs the bail bond that will be held financially responsible for paying the full amount of bail to the courts. That being said, it’s always a good rule of thumb to only bail out those whom you know and trust.
The Cost of a Bail Bond
In California, the cost of a bail bond is set at 10% of the total bail amount. So, if the total amount of bail is $15,000, then the cost of a bail bond will be $1,500.
We accept a wide variety of payment options, including major credit/debit cards (Visa, Master Card, American Express and Discover) as well as cash, checks, business and personal checks, money orders, bank account transfer and money wire.
