Can you feel it in the air? It’s nearly Thanksgiving!
This is the time of year when the streets of Santa Clarita start getting busy with holiday shoppers zipping from store to store, or camping out in front of Best Buy, waiting to get the best Black Friday deals.
An unfortunate side-effect of holiday travel is the increase in burglaries and break-ins law enforcement sees this time of year. If you plan to be away from home for an extended period of time, remember to take precautions that will deter would-be thieves.
One of the easiest things you can do to keep thieves at bay is to notify your neighbors that you plan to be away for a few days, and leave a contact number where you can be reached. If they notice anything wrong, they can always give you a call. Lights on automatic timers can also be a good idea. A dark house often means an empty house, and the darker, the better for thieves.
People are also rushing to purchase last-minute items for holiday parties. Speaking of which, do you plan on going to any parties this holiday season? If so, have a good time and remember to stay safe.
If you plan on consuming alcohol during the festivities, be sure to drink and act responsibly when it’s time to leave. If you have a few too many, it might be best just to stay where you are or to get a motel room for the night.
Law enforcement is well aware of what goes on during the holidays, and the LAPD and Santa Clarita Sheriff Station Deputies will be keeping an especially sharp eye out for drunk drivers and will be arresting those who are DUI.
Whatever you plan to do, please stay safe and have a Happy Thanksgiving from the SCV Bail Bonds family to yours!
